Get ready for a huge jump in difficulty. I always played on max difficulty, but the simplicity of the attack moves and the lack of cooldown between lancing meant that in the original M&B I could solo armies of 200 men all by myself.
Even on foot I could sometimes solo 50 men by running diagonally and slashing everyone with my Sword of War.It was far too easy really, for some reason, compared to Warband. Then Warband came and it was no longer easy. Attack moves became more complex and they changed the mechanics of using the sword-slash from the horse, so now it doesn't have as much reach.You should play Rus XII century mod for the original M&B and the Hegemony: 268 BC.
Then move onto Warband and play the vanilla, then Brytenwalda if you like an insane and impeccably historically accurate challenge.
